What does ENOLA mean?
When our founders set out to find a name for this endeavor, the goal was to find something as unique as the business model.
Because one of the four founders is of Cherokee descent, several common Cherokee words and names that were easy to pronounce were considered as options. When they came across Enola, the birthname of Chief Black Fox, they knew the perfect name and logo for their company had been found.
Chief Black Fox was a skilled negotiator and played a vital role in representing the interests of the Cherokee people in negotiations with the United States Government. As Chief, Enola led negotiations that resulted in the relinquishment of approximately 7,000 square miles of land in what is today Tennessee and Alabama.
He was also the brother-in-law of Dragging Canoe, a famous Cherokee War Chief and a relative of one of the founders, and together they fought to protect their land and people from encroachment.
